In baseball: a hit that enables the batter to make a complete circuit of the bases and score a run (Merriam-Webster). Often also referred to as a “homer”. In general: something that exactly succeeds in achieving its goal: "The president's speech was a Home Run". In Venture Capital: two of every ten investments on average will generate a 30% return, four will be worth only the money invested in them, and 3 will fail outright. One in ten may deliver a 10x return on funds invested – a “Home Run” - giving a return on both its own investment and on the other seven. This is why the Home Run is so important for investors.
